I have a surprise that I have been working on just for YOU.
This year (2019) I have decided was the year that I was going to spoil you (My amazing subscribers) with lots of little treats.
So many times in business it’s SELL SELL and TAKE TAKE. Well I’m turning the tables on this and this year it will be GIVE GIVE.
I know it’s not a normal business thing to do, but that’s why I like it so much. This year I will be sending YOU free stuff every single month. Not just silly random things either (like here is a pretty flower to put on your laptop) NO I want to do it properly and generously. I will be sending you well thought out, beautiful things that you can print or download and use in your home. Why? well generosity has always been one of the things that I love to do. It just feels right. The people that you care about are the people that you spoil the most right? Well this year, 2019 is about you.
So the first gift from me to you is this downloadable Valentines Gift wrap and card set based from one of my recent watercolour florals. Just print and wrap basically. Easy.
All you need is:
• Colour printer A4.
• Craft Knife / Scissors.
• Cutting Mat
• Hole Punch
• Ribbon to tie it together.
What’s the catch. If I’m going to give you lots of free stuff than I need to know that you like me as much as I like you. To start the friendship off you will have to subscribe to my emails. (they are always beautiful, meaningful, on purpose and generally very rare)
Here is the link here to get started.
One of the things that I LOVE about being an artist is how instinctual the process is. There are plenty of artist’s that paint the same thing and do it over and over. If you have been to the markets and seen the guy with 20 paintings all of boats on the ocean, then you know what I mean. I am absolutely not trashing that guy because there is a big chance that he might be making a stack more money than me. (Insert I really don’t care face).
For me painting what captures me has been so very important. I think that a painting that resonates with you deep down, means that you are much more likely to put every bit of your heart and soul into it. And for some reason when you love what you paint, it seems to come together so much easier.
I apologise in advance but it’s quite likely that you might just get a whole heap of random subject for a while. Maybe one day I will try and put together a proper collection along the same theme, but for the moment I am just painting what I love.
This painting was a JOY to paint. I have three little girls (Currently 2, 5 and 7) They are the joy of my life.
Even though the this little red head is not actually one of mine, there is so much about her that reminds me of my own daughters. That little girl who is blossoming in her own way and beautiful without even knowing it.
If you want to take a closer look at it, you can check it out in my ETSY shop here
Love to you all
Flowers have always been my favorite. (Along with tea in a pretty cup) I am so inspired by how happy they always seem. Whether they are in a vase, a garden or a field, they seem to sing a song of their own. Flowers are the happiness in natures song.
I am launching a floral series called “Flowers do sing”, where I will be exploring colour, happiness and shape. To be honest I am so excited about this series and I can’t wait to see what paintings come from it.
You will be able to follow the journey along with me on my social media accounts as I will be posting a w hole heap of progress and finished photo’s. I have had a huge amount of interest in my new series and the first one, was snapped up by a happy buyer very quickly. Follow along by following my social media accounts and choosing “Turn on post notifications” in the top on my instagram posts.
So firstly I need to explain to you the story of how I got to where I am. Creating fine art that is. I was having a cup of tea with one of my friends and fellow artist mummas and while we were watching the kids play and run, she telling me about how she found out about all of the these gallery run competitions. Not only that, she was entering these. They are designed specifically for finding new artists. Some of them come with very nice monetary prizes as well. My lovely friend has four little ones running around under feet and still manages to put so much time into her art and enter these competitions. A huge inspiration.
To be honest, she gave me a little “why don’t you do it” speech which really made me squirm a little. You see it’s so easy to just paint, but it’s a lot harder to expose yourself to judgement and critique. So here I am.. I have launched…. I wanted to show you the journey that I had creating this piece.
It was so much fun.
In this piece I wanted to explore modern botanical. There is so much beauty in random flowers growing in the wild. often these are taken for granted and it’s only the florist style flowers that usually get all of the glory. I wanted to paint a random and whimsical style botanical that had a modern edge to it.
I think beauty comes in many forms, and I think of the biggest themes in my art is that I am constantly trying to show beauty from a new perspective.
Anyway. This beautiful piece is called foraging and I will be releasing it for sale towards the end of August.
If you are interested in finding out more you can email me through the contact page.
Love to you all.
I have been playing around with gauche a little. I used it in college and couldn’t love it enough. However.. to be totally honest, I don’t think any medium would move watercolours from the pride of place in my heart. Anyway I needed a subject to paint and birds it was. Here is a little look at some of the pieces that I did.
For years I worked as a designer always producing work that other people asked for. Now, finally for the first time, I am creating art that I love and that makes me happy. I design a range of Wall Art Prints, and Gift Cards, full of wild flowers, soft scripty calligraphy and all the day dreams in the world. I use a variety of water colours, acrylic paint, pens and ink and the occasional colored pencil to create my original designs. They are then digitally enhanced and prepared, ready to find a place in your heart.
I spend hours looking and vintage botany prints and bouquets or wild flowers and being an eternally positive person, my quotes are always positive and hopelessly romantic.
I take a huge amount of influence from my years working as a textile designer in the Australian fashion industry as well as growing up in a Swedish home surrounded by beautiful folky motifs.
My hope is that my beautiful illustrations will find their way into your home to decorate your walls and bring you a smile every time you walk passed.
I live in Brisbane, Australia with my husband and two little angels, who often want to help me in the studio. Hopefully you will find something in my shop that inspires you.
thanks for stopping by.
(by the way Maj is swedish for May)
