Night Lily

I was inspired by the impressionistic and sketch like nature of mid century watercolour artists, who sketched all of their compositions with a paint brush before they created the finished piece. The lines are loose and shapes are uncomplicated. This would be a beautiful painting to add into a small space or as part of a gallery wall. The colours I have chosen are cool pinks and reds for the flowers, with burnt umbers, and olive greens for the foliage. The background is a lovely dusky navy, which makes the pink and olive jump out.
I can see this painting being complimented the best in a natural wood frame.
